Gary Ballentine

About Gary

Hailing from sunny California, Gary calls Utah home where he fuels his profession and his passions in the Wastach mountains. He became involved in automotive fabrication at 15, first competed in snowboarding at 20, and embarked in automotive racing design and prototyping in 2017.

Gary earned Bachelors degrees in English and Cultural Anthropology from UC Davis in 2010, a certificate in Technical and Professional Writing from San Francisco State University in 2013, and a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Utah in 2018

He currently is a mechanical engineer employed in the software industry while also working on his latest project, the online publication GraniteCliffs.com, dedicated to wilderness exploration. He builds and modifies custom 4×4 vehicles as time allows.

When not working, you can find him exploring the mountains and desert by splitboard, foot, and four wheel drive. The Wasatch might be home, but don’t be surprised if you see him wandering the High Sierra, spotting lines off Thompson Pass in Alaska, or breaking axles in Moab.
